For this outfit, I went for a very fancy dress with a pair of plain flats. If you wanted to dress this outfit up even more, go for a pair of kitten heels that would give some lift to the dress without looking slutty. When you are wearing a tight fitting dress, try not to wear a pair of high-heels or else the outfit won't look classy and you would get the wrong type of attention. For a dress that is somewhat fancy and you are going to a casual event, wear a pair of booties or flats to dress it down, you could also dress it down by adding a chunky scarf instead of a necklace.
