Spring Trend - Lace-Ups

Dress: Herve Leger

Brandy Melville - $27
Forever 21 - $17.90

Revolve - $150.00

This spring/summer season a lot of designers are coming out with a lot of garments with lace-up detailing. When I was in New York, I visited a fashion warehouse where various brands new pieces are held and many of the designers had at least one item per collection that had some sort of lace-up. Some designers featured this detail in the chest as a lace up front detail, some also did lace-up details on the sides of shirts or shorts.
It is very easy to get your hands on an item that has a lace-up because so many stores are carrying the brands that feature this type of garment.
As for styling purposes, the tops are usually seen with a simple bottom to focus on that one area of detail. Such as a simple lace-up blouse with light wash jeans. If you wanted to make a more fashion-forward outfit, I recommend that you wear a lace up piece on top, a simple garment on the bottom, and then add a shoe that also has a lace up detail. This adds a unity to the outfit and allows for there to be some sort of theme to it. Many designer fashion shows show this in their styles, by having some sort of lace-up in both the top and the shoe.
This is one of the very wearable trends that is very in this season and there are many ways to style these pieces, this small detail is a definite must in any closet.

Statement Skirt

Everyone needs a glamorous skirt in their wardrobe.  I am obsessed with this sequined mini skirt from Pierre Balmain.  It is my go to for clubbing and parties.  This Balmain skirt is an investment piece that is with its velvet fabric and gold sequin embelleshment.   The skirts high waist makes it easy to pair with a cropped top or a plunging neckline.  It also gives you a perfect nipped in waist.  I paired mine with a black satin plunging tie blouse from Revolve clothing.  You don't have to have to spend a fortune for a special evening skirt.  Nasty Gal and Revolve Clothing have many to choose from, are are both go to shopping sites for me.  You can also find discount designer clothing on the Outnet who often carries Balmain.  When looking for the perfect piece,  I would suggest one that is highly embellished made from luxurious fabric like satin, leather, or velvet.  Make sure it has a great body hugging fit.

Cropped Sweatshirts -- The New Fad

The cropped sweatshirt can be found in every cut and fabric, making it an easy go to for a casual yet sporty/chic look.  When choosing one look to Brandy Melville, Puma and Adidas, theirs' have unique bold graphics at reasonable prices.   My favorites are made out of luxurious materials with bold logos.  I pair mine with high waisted shorts and jeans for a 90s inspired look.  I am obsessed with this Tommy Hilfiger Collection cropped scuba velvet piece.  Its iconic over sized Hilfiger logo on a cropped sweatshirt make it preppy yet chic.  This is one of many pieces in the Tommy Hilfiger collection of modern, youthful pieces that feature the Hilfiger logo.  The Tommy Hilfiger Collection is exclusively available at Mytheresa.com.  Mytheresa is a new find for me and is an online clothing site that is based in Europe.  It carries designer collections that cannot be found on United States based sites.  The site often pairs with designers to carry exclusive looks.  The shipping is fast making it my go to when looking for unique pieces to add to my wardrobe.

Black Dress 2.0

Dress - Brandy Melville

Shoes - Valentino

The little black dress is not a new fad in the fashion world but the industry is constantly changing this seasons new "little black dress". I can always go for an actually little black dress but that can get routine and become less exciting as it is meant to be. To change up this common look try choosing a maxi dress with a slimmer fit. This way your figure is still accentuated but it creates a new look and changes up the outfit. Or, try and find a dress with a slightly different fit than you normally wear to create a statement of change.

In my outfit I chose to go with a slightly longer dress with slits on the side because I normally go with the short dresses to show off my legs to try and make me seem taller since I am very short. I also paired it with a pair of pumps to further accentuate my height.

You can also switch up the look by adding a new accessory. Such as a bright colored moto jacket or a colored scarf to add a pop of color to a monotone outfit.

The new pant style to try!

What I am wearing: Top: Brandy Melville (similar)  / Pants: Torn By Ronny Kobo / Shoes: Gucci

In this outfit I am wearing this awesome new pair of pants by Ronny Kobo. I have seen this style drifting around the fashion world recently and I have always been hesitant to wear them due to my height. However, once I put these on I was in love, the pants fit just right and was such a cool new look. There are many other cheaper alternatives all over the internet however, I suggest you go in store to try them on because a lot of different pairs fit very differently. I also suggest that if you are shorter, you try and show a little bit of your stomach to keep your figure looking long and not shortened. For a taller person, I suggest a tight top on top tucked into the pants to even out the length of your legs with your torso. For a heavier body I suggest maybe a tighter style pant and a loose top.
This outfit I wore to New York one day, and it was very much inspired by Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, their style is completely up my ally and I love their looks.

This trend is not for everyone but I suggest giving it a try because it is a perfect way to spice up your everyday style and they are insanely comfortable!

Winter Formal

Dress: Revolve - Shoes: YSL

So this weeks edition is all about finding that perfect winter formal dress for either a school dance, a Christmas party, of a new years party.

To start off, finding the perfect type of dress to best flatter your body shape is very hard. For the curvy girls, I suggest maybe a body-con dress to show off your curves and to really show off your figure and hug your curves. For the heavier body type, try a shift dress, this will cause the illusion of a slimmer body shape, due to no one body part being accentuated, it also does not add any extra fabric that will appear to add weight. For the skinny/not that curvy bodies, I suggest a fit and flare, this will cause the illusion of a curvier figure due to the flare near the hips and the tightness at the chest.

Now on to the look of the dresses. For a party look, try something that has a pop of color, this will draw attention to you in a crowded room. Causing everyone to want to stop to look at your outfit. Or, try a dress with a lot of sparkle, this will cause the same affect as the colored dress, it will also make your outfit fun and unique. For a school event, try to avoid an uncomfortable dress due to the amount of movement you will be doing during the night. Also, try to avoid anything stark white because sweat stains are very easily noticeable on a while dress, especially a silk dress. Also, another option is a dress with no back, this will allow for some skin to show and to draw attention to your dress. Another style I love is a dress with slight sequins around the neckline, this will make it so you don't have to wear a necklace and it is very fun and elegant.

Now onto what stores you should look at to find your perfect dress based on your budget.
For a budget under $100, try these stores:
Forever 21
H&M
Asos
Topshop
Lulu's
